PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

 Proposals eligible for consideration:

    a.  Proposals are reviewed based on how well they address the following questions:

            • Does the organization fit one or more of our four areas of focus?

            Is it an organization we are involved in as a Board member or volunteer?

            Does the proposal address a critical community need or issue, or provide an innovative initiative?

            Who is the client that will benefit and how will they be impacted? 

            Can our employees participate?  

            What are the marketing benefits?

            (Team or individual sponsorships are discouraged)

     b.  Focus areas:  Education, Community Service, Healthcare, Economic Development
            We also encourage proposals that address critical community issues, innovative initiatives,

            and/or creative collaborations

    c.  Type project:  General support, naming opportunities, sponsorships, in-kind, volunteer support

    d.  Recipients:  501-c-3 organizations, legal business entities

    e.  Funding range:  Average gift from $100 to $1,000; Multi-year commitments considered

    f.  Communities served by DCF:  Four county area of Sandoval, Bernalillo, Torrance and Valencia;
        other areas considered on individual basis

    g.  Opportunities for volunteer involvement:  Proposals for volunteer assistance from DCF must
        include the following information:

            Benefit the project will provide to agency clients

            Date, start time, duration of project, times of shifts (if relevant)

            Location, with specific directions

            Specific types of activities volunteers will perform, and any special skills needed

            Any restrictions on age, physical capabilities, etc.

            Any suggested clothing appropriate for the activity

            Please state whether volunteers can include family members


Proposal checklist:

    a.  Tax ID number and/or 501-c-3 letter

    b.  Cover letter with contact information stating scope of project and need – maximum 2 pages

            Describe client(s) population and number, and how they are served by agency and project

            Specific dollar amount requested

            If benefits will be provided for the funding, please list and explain

            Timeline for project and requested date for funding decision

     c.   Attachments:

            Agency’s current operating budget

            Project budget

            Agency’s board of directors

            List of key staff members involved in proposed project

 
Submission procedure:

    a.  Proposals may be submitted by mail or fax; please do not email proposals
            No binders, videos, CDs, DVDs, or product samples, please

    b.  Proposals are reviewed monthly

    c.  Provide mailing address, email, fax, and phone number of key contact for response

 

   d.  Timeline for response:  You will be notified of a decision within 30 days
